THE METHOD

The GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods are exercise systems that focus on spiraling, circular movement, strength training, and rhythmic breathing to create a fluid, juicy workout for your joints, muscles, and spine.

Gyrotonic equipment provides both resistance and support, helping you move into greater ranges of motion, while turning on muscles you didn’t even know you had.

This fluid movement system connects breath to movement, much like the feeling of dancing, and can help you feel connected to your body in a whole new way.

Gyrotonic is a holistic movement system that views the body as a whole, opposed to small individual parts. This comprehensive views allows us to zero in on the body’s limitations and pains, so we can uncover their root cause, and work towards bringing the body back into alignment.

Once we find a tight, weak, or injured muscle, we often find it’s connected to another part of the body that is also working too hard or too little. This awareness is the first step to reaching a place of optimal alignment, mobility, and strength.

The Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods were created by Julio Horvath to heal his own body from dance injuries and has been evolving ever since.

The Benefits of Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis

Gyrotonic

Gyrotonic exercises utilize multiple pieces of equipment that provide support and resistance to help your body move into ranges that it otherwise couldn’t. After some time, these increased ranges become your new normal, improving strength and flexibility.

Gyrokinesis

Gyrokinesis exercises are done with a stool and a mat and includes a series of seated, standing, and floor exercises. This template is a more continuous flow getting deep into breath, moving connective tissue, and even giving your organs a deep internal massage. These movements are great to practice at home!
